Hello my name is Emma. I have visual snow syndrome.
I always called it static. It gets worse at night, becoming more colorful and busy and I can barely see in the dark.
I remember being 4 or 5 years old. And looking up at my ceiling in bed, and seeing little white dots trail across my vision. And the angry, frenzied, ever-present static like a TV on channel 3 with no source.
I don’t see solid color, ever. Everything is a Van Gogh painting. Am I crazy? Does everyone see this way?
About a year ago I learned the truth. Aeropsia. Visual snow. Broadband static. I was shaken. HAlf of me thought it was normal, the other half thought I was the only one. To learn it has a NAME, and that I’m NOT alone in this condition, is surreal.
I want to go to a specialist and get a diagnosis. What kind of doctor should I look for…where do I start?
Thank you for reading.
